This piece is my final project for my screenprinting class. The background is lipstick kisses that I pressed onto the paper with my lips. I come from a long lineage of red lipstick wearers, and whenever my mom kisses me, she leaves a big lipstick stain on my cheek. I replicated this on the paper to honor her and to reflect on how many kisses she has given me throughout her lifetime. The process of kissing the paper was messy, and I smudged lipstick all over my face and the paper. The actual screenprint photo is of my mother and me during one of my first public art exhibitions in 2024, while my mom and I discussed how nervous I was to talk about my work in front of so many people.
